Many Hands, One Garden

"Cultivating friendship, food, and stories for over 30 years."

Over 30 years ago, Carroll and Henry took a chance on a couple humble garden plots—and H&H Fine Food Farm was born. What began as a weekend project has grown into five full plots, a community of growers, and a place rooted in hard work, friendship, and a love for the land.

Over the years, we’ve had plenty of helping hands—some seasoned green thumbs, some weekend warriors. About five years ago, Chuck joined the fold, bringing fresh energy and ideas. Then came David, and most recently, Jeff. Each one brought something new to the farm—and helped shape what it is today.

What We Grow
We’re proud to be known for our muscadines—rich, Southern, sun-soaked grapes that mark the heart of our growing season. But we’ve been expanding. These days, you’ll also find rows of blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries ripening under the sun.

Thanks to David’s persistence, we planted our very first strawberries this year. It didn’t go as planned—a disease wiped them out—but that’s farming. You learn, you adapt, and you get ready to try again next season.

In cooler months, we plant onions and garlic and sow cover crops to keep the soil healthy and vibrant. Come spring, things really get moving: tomatoes, peppers, mustard and collard greens, squash, zucchini, broccoli, green beans, zipper and purple hull peas, and okra all start filling the beds. Did I say okra, lots of okra!

Farm Rhythms
Pruning vines. Training new growth along the lines. Turning the soil. Waiting for rain. Watching for bugs. Harvesting when the time is just right. There’s a rhythm to this life—a cycle of hope and hard work—and we wouldn’t trade it for anything.
